Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Power Issues

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has a long lasting battery life when it is fully charged, with the average charging time approximately 6 hours. After you charge it fully, the battery life can last for up to 40 hours. This average battery life depends on the software application and functions being used when you play the game on the Switch console. Sadly, you can’t enjoy this excellent battery life of the Switch Pro controller when it has power issues. Therefore, do the following steps to figure out the solution on how to fix Nintendo Switch Pro Controller power issues:

  • Disconnect the Nintendo Switch AC adapter from both ends and leave it for about 20 seconds.
While waiting within this 20 seconds, make sure that the AC adapter is the official Nintendo Switch AC Adapter (Model No. HAC-002). Probably you can resolve the problem by replacing it if you are not using the official one. We recommend you to check for any possible damage on the AC adapter such as nicks, kinks, or frayed cables. You need to replace the AC adapter if it is damaged.
  • Try to connect the official Nintendo Switch AC adapter directly to the Switch Pro Controller and a wall outlet. If it is charging, the recharge LED next to the USB connector should turn on. This recharge LED will power off after the battery charge is complete.

When this recharge LED is on, try to press any button. If you find the player LEDs turn on momentarily and then shut off, you need to pair the Switch Pro Controller to the console. If the player LEDs do not turn on, but you see the recharge LED on, charge it for 15 to 30 minutes, then observe it again. After charging it for about 15 to 30 minutes but the player LEDs won’t turn on at all when you press a button on the Pro Controller, it means you need to repair the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. You also need to fix this Pro controller if the battery life of the Pro Controller doesn’t last very long after you charge it for at least 6 hours.

In case, if the recharge LED doesn’t turn on at all after connecting the official Nintendo Switch AC adapter directly to the Switch Pro Controller and a wall outlet, try to unplug the official AC adapter and test it by connecting this AC adapter directly to the console. You need to replace the Nintendo Switch AC adapter if it doesn’t work with the console. Otherwise, you may need to repair the Switch Pro controller. Especially when you can’t use it to charge the Switch Pro controller or the charge doesn’t last long enough.
